Students at Bucknell, and on other college campuses, report experiences of unwanted sex at alarmingly high rates. Findings from our first study (Flack, Daubman, et al., 2004) indicate that 45% of female students, and 24% of male students, experienced one or more incidents of unwanted sex at Bucknell. Many of these incidents seem to occur in the context of hooking up and alcohol intoxication, and a surprisingly high number are associated with subsequent symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder. These findings, and those from a new study currently underway, will be discussed in Professor Flack’s colloquy.
